Photo album from Hiko, Nevada. In 1865, silver was discovered in Hiko and a few hundred miners rushed to the area. After the discovery, Hiko became the county seat of Lincoln County. However, the mines were never too successful in Hiko, and the mills shut down in 1869. In 1871, the Lincoln County seat was moved to Pioche. Today, Hiko is a small agrarian town with only about 100 people living there. This photo album includes photographs of homes, people, livestock, buildings, and some Indians in or around Hiko. Some of the photographs are cyanotypes. Album is 8 x 5.75 inches. Good condition.
