3 volumes of California horse racing history filled with original black and white photos, which appear to be constructed by a professional within the industry if not an owner of many of the racehorses. They area labelled on the spine in this case Vol 3 (stock farms), 17 (misc.) , and 18(Turf ?). It is unknown what happened to the other volumes. Each album contains approx. 70-150 pages of material with photos, news articles, race and handicap information. A number of the photos have handwritten indication of the riders and the horses as well as results. Extensive notes on breeders and specific horses. c1919-1935. A copy of a bank check for winnings may hold a clue to the owner where R.C. Stables was written a check for $92,700 in 1928 San Diego, signed by JW Coffroth. Also included are statistics on American running records for tracks around the US. Some of the race tracks included are Santa Anita, Juarez, Latonia KY, Belmont Park, Saratoga Springs, and more. Large portraits of jockeys throughout, all labelled, including some of the most famous of the period such as Pete Laidley, Earl Sande. This is an extensive and outstanding collection.
