Approximately 12 x 20", 850 pages in volume 1, with the front five pages loose and a bit ratty. Volume 2 contains an index in the back to both volumes; 807 pages plus index. Some water staining. Volume 2 is a little better condition of the front three pages, a little bit ratty but all present. There is an old cloth protective cover on both volumes with early cord sewing. The protective cover together which does not affect the book.

This is the quintessential 18th-century reference of the history of England from a Frenchman's viewpoint. Compare it to modern written histories, and you'll find a completely different opinion. United Kingdom
