A History of Montana. Helen Fitzgerald Sanders. First Edition, 1913, The Lewis Publishing Co., Chicago and New York. Three volumes with continuous page numbers, in total 1808 pp.: Vol. I - 847 pp., Vol. II - to 1296 pp., and Vol. III - to 1808 pp. Besides her interest in Montana, Sanders was a leader in the Women's Suffrage Movement. She was a historian and author and published several historical works. In Vol. I - Sanders' Introduction, she lists the varied sources she used, and the difficulty finding information, when piecing together Montana's history. She utilized the Historical and Miscellaneous Library of the state, the private collection of Col. W.F. Sanders, journal of J.X. Beidler, "and many other rare and valuable records. "With this material and the information gleaned from pioneers and representative citizens of the state today, I have endeavored to write a faithful and unbiased history of Montana from the time of the Sieur de la Vérendrye to the present." All three volumes have general wear and degradation on their covers, as well as corner bumping, but otherwise very good. Vol. I's front board is detaching. Montana
