Lot of 5 different documents for the Sierra Nevada Wood & Lumber Co. that first operated at Lake Tahoe in the 1880s to support the Comstock mines and then moved near Truckee in Nevada County. First named Overton, then Hobart Mills, both names honoring two key Comstock/Tahoe lumber figures. 1) Fantastic pictorial letterhead, 1901, to the Carson and Tahoe Lumber & Fluming Company. Shipment of strawberry cases to Franktown, Nevada. Vignettes of the mill and factory. 2) Very rare Overton Mercantile Company billhead, 1908, dateline Hobart Mills. 3) Overton Mercantile Co. check, 1901, dateline Overton. 4 and 5) Two different unused checks for the Sierra Nevada Wood & Lumber Co., both dateline Hobart Mills. One is very scarce. Overall, the collector notes this was a tough group to assemble! Hobart Mills California
