This lot is a collection of metal artifacts from the Hog Ranch at Fort Fetterman, Wyoming. There is a beautifully engraved brass barrette, two large eagle Horstman Bros. buttons at 13/16 in. , a metal kitchen knife, and seven pounded brass fasteners of unknown purpose. The Hog Ranch was on the north side of the Platte River while the Fort itself was on the south side of the river to at least slow the egress of soldiers to the closest whore house. The Fort was later abandoned by the army in 1882.
