Very rare! Inc. in the Territory of Arizona. No. 61, issued for ten shares to Roy Wilkins on June 7th, 1910 in Monett, MO. Signed by president L.B. Durnil and secretary U. S. Barnsley. Not cancelled. Black border and print, gold seal, mining scene vignette. Printed by Franklin Hudson Pub. Co. Heavy folds with some separation, toning. 8.5 x 10.5" Durnil and Barnsley were Monett investors who wanted to build an airplane. They invested in three projects, including one with Arthur Erritt Holbrook. Holbrook applied for a patent on his aircraft on January 19, 1910, and received it February 10, 1914. The patent drawings show a strange hybrid of a helicopter and an airplane. There were two helicopter propellers on top for lift and another propeller in front for thrust. In 1911, the aeroplane company moved from Joplin to Monett. Holbrook had many unsuccessful attempted flights with his aeroplane. The company shifted to building the DeChenne biplane.
