Special Deposit. 186-. 4 x 7.75" Ben Holladay, known as the Stagecoach King, bought the Pony Express in 1862 and formed the Overland Stage Route along the Overland Trail to avoid confrontations with American Indians on the northern Oregon Trail and Pony Express routes.
