Lot of 2 different. The Hoosier State Mill was located in Virginia City on Silver Street between G and H Streets and built in 1862. In the early 1870s, it had 18 stamps and was processing ore from the Savage Mine (Ansari). 1) Very rare Bank of California check, RN-D1, purple print. Issued in 1874 to the Fulton Foundry. Signed by mining millionaire John Mackay. Spindle cancel. Some toning/staining. 2) Bank of California check with manuscript "Hoosier State Mill" on signature line. Issued to Patrick Kelly in 1873. 2 cent US IR stamp. Signed by Lowell. Spindle cancel.
