Stock Certificate from the Hope Gold Co. Certificate number 605 issued in 1866, at New York to T.L. Swan & Co. Signed by president Wally E. Laskin(?) and secretary (?). Size 10" by 5.75". In average condition (border staining, etc). Anchor vignette. Not cancelled. "issued for the purchase of mining property in Colorado" According to Hollister, the company owned 2,200 feet on the Gold Dirt Lode, which crosses Gamble Gulch about two miles above its junction with South Boulder. Developments are described in detail by Hollister (see pgs. 216-218). Cupriferous ore with gold and silver. Col. CL Grafflin is agent. They have 1,750 tons of tailings and a 16-stamp steam mill in Gamble Gulch.
