Beautiful & old Hopi Bowl. 6.75"h x 5" opening at top, then gracefully graduates down. Bottom is 2.25". The Hopi pottery tradition includes some of the most iconic pieces in American Indian production. Dating back through the last millennium, it comes from the Hopi Native Americans, whose origins can be traced to their pueblo in the American Southwest. Hopi potters created remarkably durable pieces, their strength reinforced by the inclusion, in some cases, of smashed pottery shards into their clay mixture. This piece has been repaired. Pieces of this age are not signed. Exact date unknown, possibly mid-1800's. Has one lip chip (.5"). From the Historic Wigwam Collection of Fernley, Nevada.
