Hudson Motor Car Co. made Hudsons and other brand automobiles in Detroit, MI., from 1909 - 1954. Hudson merged with Nash-Kelvinator Corporation in 1954 and formed American Motors (AMC). Hudson name used through the 1957 model year, then discontinued. The new Hudson "Twenty" was one of the 1st low-priced cars on the market in U.S. and very successful with more than 4,000 sold the 1st year. The 4,508 units made in 1910 was the best first year's production in the history of the automobile industry and placed them 17th place industry-wide, "a remarkable achievement at a time" when there were 100's of makes being marketed. Company had a number of firsts including dual brakes, dashboard oil-pressure and generator warning lights, and the 1st balanced crankshaft. Peak in 1929 produced 300,000 cars in 1 year.
