Rare. Letterhead for Humboldt Soda & Bottling Works and Depot House Saloon, G.A. Krenkel, Proprietor. Dateline Winnemucca, Nev., May 9th, 1894. Message from Krenkel to William Easton, sheriff at Austin, Nevada. Krenkel gave goods to Sam King of Austin to sell in a new business. King sold the goods, didn't start the business, and never paid Krenkel! Fold, toning, two punch holes. Gustav Krenkel (as spelled on the letterhead and in his signature) is also listed in ads as "Krenkle." Gustav opened the Upper Town Saloon in Winnemucca with partner H. Eastman in 1870. In July 1887, Krenkle opened the Humboldt Soda and Bottling Works in or next to his Depot House Saloon, the probable successor of the Upper Town Saloon. This soda works was in direct competition with Henry Busch's soda works. Gustav died in 1898 and his wife took over the business. For more info, please see Volume One of the Nevada Bottle Book.
