Organized in Iowa on February 12, 1881. Railroad mogul Jay Gould agreed for the Humeston and Shenandoah Railroad to be built as a joint venture with the Burlington and completed on April 1, 1881.

This certificates appears newly printed and in great condition. Only visible issue are cancel punch holes. #559, I/C, $1000, 7%, First Mortgage bearer bond issued March 1, 1881. Black, embossed seal (very sharp imprint), vignette top train @ depot r-l under wavy title. $1000 in blue box underprint. CANCELLED red stencil. Coupons 31-61 attached.
