This lot of books on hunting and fishing is not to be overlooked. There were principals used in the 1950's that would still be appropriate today. There is the "Guide to Trout Flies and How to Tie Them" by Family Circle, paperback , 1954, 48 pp. 7 1/2 in. X 10 1/2 in. bent corner. This well illustrated reference book has the Royal Coachman on the cover, a fly pattern direct descendant of the Royal Wulff, one that I have used as a euphemism for my own name (Kingston Wulff). A pattern patented by a family member (Lee Wulff-the Bush Pilot Angler). This book should be in every fly fisherman's library. "Fly Fishing" by Tom McNally 1978, hardcover with DJ, 412 pp., light blue fabric cover with fly pattern embossed, bend corners, a great reference to knots and how-to-do specific fishing techniques. "The National Parks Fishing Guide" by Robert Gartner, 1990, paperback 438 pp., bent corner, covers 125 parks. "Nymph Fishing For Larger Trout" by Charles Brooks and illustrated by Dave Whitlock 1976, hardcover, blue fabric with DJ, corner missing on DJ, 180 pp., near new condition. "The Red-Tailed Hawk- a complete guide to training and hunting North America's most versatile game hawk" by Liam J. MacGranaghan, paperback 2001,174 pp., bent corner, a lifetime of enjoyment while hunting without firearms, 8 1/2 in. X 11 in. "Hemingway on Fishing" by Ernest Hemingway, 2000, first edition, 237 pp., light blue hardcover with DJ, great photos, written by Papa himself and his three sons. "The Hunter's Shooting Guide" by Jack O'Connor, paperback, 1978, 164 pp., tipped corners, 6 in. X 9 in. "With the exception of Theodore Roosevelt, no man of this century has had a greater impact on hunting and sport shooting than Jack O'Connor"( p.iii). Jack's favorite cartridge was the .270. Basic reloading, means it is at .277 in. or 7mm on top of a necked-down .30-06. Nothing then is new in today's world of hunting. As far as long range shooting? "Most astute procedure is to do execution at from 75 to 150 yards, if circumstances permit" (p. 94) says Jack. It still applies today. "Hunting Adventures Worldwide" by Jack Atchison, 1995, 256 pp., hardcover, butterscotch fabric, DJ, like new condition. Beautifully illustrated and photographed, conveying fair-chase principles throughout. "The Remington Historical Treasury of American Guns" by Harold Peterson, paperback 1966, 155 pp. "The Biography of a Sportsman" by Austin Haight 1939, hardcover 209 pp. This is my harvest chapter 13 is a must-read. Tipped corner green fabric cover, 7 in. X 9 in. "Deer hunting Across North America" by Nick Sisley, hardcover, 1975, 281 pp. brown fabric cover with embossed white tail, DJ like new condition. Alaska Fisherman's Almanac 1946, "Wild Harmony Animals of the North" by William Pruitt Jr. State: City: Date: Provenance: Stuart Mackenzie Montana Ephemera Collection
