Lot of 2. 1) Blue Gold-Rush era billhead, dateline Sacramento 1857. Billed to Forest Hill merchants Hardy & Kennedy for mining supplies including a case of Dupont powder(explosives). 2) 1860 DO Mills & Co. Bankers check, handwritten Forest Hill dateline (over Sacramento). From Hardy & Kennedy to Huntington & Hopkins for $200. Huntington & Hopkins were two of the "Big Four" founders of the Central Pacific Railroad (with Leland Stanford and Charles Crocker). Hardy & Kennedy were Forest Hill general merchandise and mining merchants who purchased gold dust and served as agents for Wells Fargo.
