1906. The Excelsior Mining District is located right next to the Pahdet (Whiskey Flat) Mining District on the north west side of the Huntoon Valley. In 1906 the mines of the area were experiencing a revival and the owners of the Huntoon Chief were hoping to capitalize on this. The Huntoon Chief was incorporated in 1906 in the Excelsior Mining District and issued 1,000,000 shares of stock. The prospectus points out all of the reasons why this group of mines will be unbelievably successful, but also points out the officers are taking no salary. Sounds like a wish and a prayer to me. The Superintendent is clearly identified as the L. A. Phillips of the attached pictures. Lot of 2) Type written prospectus on legal sized paper. Includes a blueprint plat map of the area. 2) Four pictures that were added to the prospectus to show that the company was serious. They show a) L. A. Phillips on a pack horse, b) Phillips with his pack train ready to leave of the mine, c) close up of the pack train in front of the Rock Springs Coal building, and d) Phillips packing his train in the streets. These are fabulous photographs and the prospectus gives us insight into a mining area that is not very well known. State: Nevada City: Excelsior Mining District, Mineral Date: HWAC# 99423
