Issued in 1887 (?). Number 388 for 1 share for this innovative company. Signed by president EC Sterling. Vignette shows the working press. Many stock certificates can be found under this name, but none have the fantastic vignette of this one! Stamp cancelled. Some red and blue bleeding from another paper in bottom middle. Otherwise no rips, tears, pinholes, dog ears etc. The founder of the Hydraulic Press Brick Company, Mr. E. C. Sterling, developed the concept of molding dry clay with a hydraulic press. Mr. Sterling overcame many obstacles. Earlier attempts to utilize a dry clay manufacturing technique in the East had proven quite unsuccessful. He established his first operation in Memphis. In 1864, after the disruption of the Civil War, he relocated to St. Louis. Date: Location: St. Louis, Missouri HWAC # 54575
