A rare find indeed! Original ledger for Thos. Cole Jr. & Co. Bankers in Idaho City during the Idaho gold rush of the 1860s. Cole & Co. had their office in the Wells Fargo & Co. building (JL Smith, manager), which is also why there are a lot of entries for WF & Co. The entries are daily, with sums and weekly profit and loss statements. The accounts show gold bullion, gold dust deposits, freight costs (some are of sending money to mining camps such as Ruby) as well as sending money to their Boise office. The bank was associated with the British and California Bank, a London based bank with an office in San Francisco that folded up at the end of 1868 or so. 475pp, but only the first third used. 10 x 14", leather bound.
