Compiled and drawn by Kennedy & Powell, civil and mining engineers of Missoula, and compliments of McConnell, Cook & Co. Real Estate and Financial Agents, this 31 x 33 inch map the town layout with railroads and the Missoula River passing through. Backed by cardboard, plastic wrapped, suitable for framing. Fort Missoula was established in 1877 to help protect arriving settlers. Growth accelerated with the arrival of the Northern Pacific Railway in 1883, and Missoula incorporated a municipal government as a town, the same year. In 1885, Missoula reincorporated its government as a city. This map was made six years later.
