Lot of 4. The Imperial Mine was a productive Gold Hill property located between the Challenge and Rice mines. Up to 1876, it had produced 232,000 tons, yielding approx. $5,444,00. In 1876, it was absorbed by the Consolidated Imperial. [Ref: Ansari] 1) 1866 Gold Hill, Bank of California, check with green print. Signed by Buckminster as supt. 2 cent adhesive US IR stamp in lower left corner. Toning. 2) Bank of California, Virginia, Nev., 1872. Rare check with RN-C21b imprinted revenue. Issued to E. Jones, signed by R. Graves as supt. Toning. 3-4) Two Bank of California, Virginia, Nev. checks with RN-D1 imprinted revenues. One issued in 1876, signed by Batterman as supt., with "Con" handwritten in front of Imperial; stain on border. The other is issued in 1877, signed by Wm. Hardy as supt.; stain/soiling in corner. Nice group!
