Super early edition, February 23rd, 1807. Adams & Rhoades, publishers. 6pp. 21 x 15" Last two pages detached. Paper is very fragile, with rips, a few holes, and stains. The Independent Chronicle was a prominent Boston newspaper founded in 1768 as The Essex Gazette before relocating and becoming The Independent Chronicle in 1776, aligning itself strongly with the Patriot cause during the American Revolution. It played a significant role in shaping public opinion in Massachusetts through the late 18th and early 19th centuries, often publishing radical and anti-Federalist views. The paper eventually merged with other publications and ceased independent publication in the early 1840s, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most influential revolutionary-era newspapers in New England.
