The IOS Investment Program Certificate issued in 1968 with Bernard Cornfeld's facsimile signature. Cornfeld started IOS as a mutual fund "fund of funds" with the structure set up for IOS to earn a percentage of the profits of it's investors. During the 1969 bear market, IOS was running out of operating funds. Robert Vesco infused the company with $5 million and forced Cornfeld out. Vesco ultimately transferred $200 million of IOS funds into shell corporations designed to hide the assets from law enforcement authorities. Vesco fled to exile in a number of Caribbean countries and died in Cuba in 2008. Cornfeld lived the high life, owning a 12th century chateau in France and mansions around the world. He dated many famous women including Victoria Principal, Alana Hamilton and Audrey Hepburn. He was charged with fraud in 1973 by Swiss authorities, but was later acquitted (info from Wikipedia). This is a historic wall street certificate with a great story.
