The Los Angeles Times in 1897 predicted this area will produce the greatest number of surprises in the coming years. The Inyo held fifteen distinct properties. They are all in or adjacent to the Mountain Spring Canyon in Inyo County. In 1897 base tunnels were already being driven at the Daisy Bell and Belancaina mines.
