Lot of six; four with contents. 1850ís and 1860ís. Mostly 1862-63. 1) Montezuma. Postmark is cancel. Letter from Forrest Home. Much of it is work related. The Montezuma post office opened in 1849 making this less than ten years from opening. 2) Oskaloosa. Hand cancelled. The young lady is in serious financial condition. 3) Iowa City Double Circle that is hand cancelled. 1863. Corner advertising for the Iowa City Pump factory. More monetary issues. 4) Weak Elkader postmark which is also the cancel. 1857. Post office opened less than 10 years ago! Starts out with news of school. 5) 1861 West Union. Post office opened in 1850. Nice strike with bar cancel. 6) 1856 Dubuque. Postmark serves as cancel.
