This appears to be an Ironwood Stoneware Saucer. It measures 6.25 in diameter. There are no chips or cracks, with a small stain on the front. ThThis saucer was not from the SS Central America, but was recovered in 1987 from Site 87 . There is a British registry mark on the bottom that renders manufacturing information: top to bottom, left to right, IV (ceramic), Y (year of manufacture is 1853), I (July), Rd, 18 (date); with no parcel number. At the time it was recovered, this suggested to the discoverers that the dish was consistent with the outfitting of the George Law for its maiden voyage. There is also a potterís name above the registration mark that is illegible.

Provenance: SS Central America Collection
