In this collection, there are 42 genuine John Bowers real photograph postcards. John Bowers was an outstanding figure in the world of early postcard photography. As a young photographer, John Bowers moved to Africa in 1896 to develop his skills and started a family with an English girl. He returned to America after conflict broke out between English and Dutch settlers, giving him the opportunity to pursue his career in the United States. Bowers eventually settled in Long Beach CA, publishing postcards from both local southern California Locations as well as places all along the southwest railroad sprawl. John Bowers' signature mark are panoramic or semi-panoramic sized postcards. John Bowers' life was cut short at age 45 when Bowers' business partner Richard Ward mistakenly shot him outside of his house in 1910. Bowers extensive work covered more than 20 counties in the southwest affirming his legacy as one of the great early postcard photographers.
