January 6, 1965 Jack Ruby 4pp letter and cover with last page autograph. Jack Ruby mortally shot Lee Harvey Oswald on a lower level of the Dallas police station 2 days after Oswald shot JFK. This moment is depicted in the Pulitzer Prize winning photograph with Oswald grimacing in pain. The cover return address is 505 Main St./Dallas, Texas, fully in Ruby's hand. The letter is from "County Jail" and is response to a letter mailed to him. Some Americans considered Ruby a hero as he killed Oswald. He stated he wanted to spare Jaqueline Kennedy the pain of a trial for Oswald and thus killed Oswald out of anger. Ruby may have had Mob connections and who knows how this may have influenced his behavior. Friends of Ruby stated he would have only done this killing for money while others called him a blabbermouth, the last person for a mob hit. In this letter it appears Ruby was being offered money, perhaps for his legal defense. A rare prison time letter from Jack Ruby.
