Corner ad. cover for JK Moore, Post Trader, Fort Washakie, Wyoming. Sent to his wife in Lodi, California in 1899. Fort Washakie and Lodi cancels. Two 2 cent stamps. Cut opened on the left (part of the left border missing). No contents. We have sold tokens for JK Moore in previous auctions. Fort Washakie was established in 1869 and operated as a military outpost until 1909, when it was decommissioned and turned over to the Shoshone Indian Agency. The graves of Washakie and Lewis and Clark Expedition guide Sacajawea are located on the grounds of the fort. The site is included within the present-day Wind River Indian Reservation.
