# 1 for 24 shares to James D. LaRue. Signed by JH Blood and James H Van Reed. Dateline San Francisco Jan 5, 1863. Incorporated Nov. 25, 1862. Not cancelled. Three vignettes: sailing ship, Native American and hay stack. Located in Esmeralda District. Miner edge issues (hard to see) and pin holes. Nice. The Jack Hays Mine was located on the Jack Hays and Newberger lodes. Colonel Jack Hays (namesake?) was a former Texas Ranger and lead the volunteer forces against the Indians in the second battle of Pyramid Lake. The original trustees were James H Van Reed, Thomas A Lane and Jesse B Sanders. [Daily Alta California, texasrangers.org]
