James Bartram Nicholson (Jan 28, 1820, St. Louis, MO -Mar 4, 1901, Philadelphia, PA) was a bookbinder who moved to Philadelphia by 1840 where he was baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and appointed clerk of Philadelphia branch. His correspondence requesting permission to start a new stake in Philadelphia is included in the Joseph Smith papers.
