Famous vigilante illustrated letter sheet showing the assassination of James King of William and the vigilante execution of Casey & Cora. Ullman, printed before June 4, 1856. Single sheet, the second page, which contained two other illustrations, has been removed. Baird 4, blue wove paper Baird shows page one only, in only two collections. Very Rare. James King of William is a very famous California "character", who published a fairly radical newspaper, created his own bank, and caused such a stir that he was assassinated. (An exceptionally rare complete Exchange on his bank is present in this sale. His signature is more commonly known of San Francisco bonds, but exceedingly rare on banking documents.)
