This is a Japanese Tanegashima musket about .44 cal. smoothbore. The barrel is 46 in. and the overall length is 57.5 in. We believe it is a 20th-century replica, a beautifully constructed firearm that is fully operational but has not been fired. The ramrod is about 3 in. long and thought to be representational only making this gun for decoration or re-enactment only. This type of firearm was used in the 16th century up to the 19th C. long after better technology was used elsewhere in the world. This one has beautiful wood, and the barrel is pinned at four locations with flower pattern inlays. The stock is marked with Japanese figures. This unique design in firearm was intended to be shot off-hand but not necessarily from the shoulder. Please see photos for details. No sales to New York City, New Jersey, California, and Hawaii. Additional shipping and handling may apply.
