A RARE RPC Japanese postcard of stunt pilot, Art Smith. Smith made two trips to Asia, in 1916 and 1917, to give aeronautic demonstrations. Smith is seated in a roadster in what appears to be a Japanese parade. Unused. In 1915 Smith became the stunt flyer at the PanamañPacific International Exposition in San Francisco after fellow aviator Lincoln Beachey, the Pan-Pacific official stunt flyer, died after crashing into the bay. He was a test pilot and instructor during WWI, and was a U.S.P.S. pilot on the overnight airmail delivery route between New York City and Chicago. He died in 1926, at age 35, near Montpelier, Ohio, where he crashed 2 miles off-course.[ Japan
