Lot of 6 Professionally framed color prints by Jenness Cortez, all signed by Cortez and protected under glass. These prints all feature racehorses, this artist's most popular subject matter and widely collected. Each print is labelled with the name of the horse and the rider, with the race, year and award included for the 4/6 that are running a race. Included are: 1. Forego Victorious in the 1976 Marlboro Cup, Bill Shoemaker Up; 2. Man O' War Winning the Travers Stakes August 21, 1920 Saratoga Springs, N.Y., A. Shuttinger Up; 3. Spend A Buck Winning the 1985 Kentucky Derby, Angel Cordero Up; 4. Alysheba Winning the 1987 Kentucky Derby, Chris McCarron Up; 5. Seattle Slew, Jean Cruguet Up; 6. Secretariat, Ron Turcotte Up. Most celebrated for her paintings of Horse, American Artist Jenness Cortez was born in Indiana in 1944, and is considered one of the most noteworthy revivalists of Classical Realism in the 20th and 21st centuries. Cortez formally began her artistic studies under Dutch artist Antonius Raemaekers, and later attended both the Herron School of Art and the Art Students League of New York. Her racehorses have gained her world-wide acclaim and are extremely collectible pieces for experts and novices alike.
