This lot contains three postal covers with the likeness of J. C. Fremont, one political cover, and one copper plate engraving page. One postal cover is unused, one is post marked Sep 19 Amherst, MS. to a Miss Susan Oak Curtis , Garland, Maine three cent postage stamp. The political card is 5 1/2 in. X 3 in. depicting Major General John C. Fremont The War for the Union, tear at the bottom center. An intriguing postal cover depicts Fremont scaling a mountain while a locomotive speeds by with the message "FREMONT, first of FREEDOM HOST, Now plants our flag and on to VICTORY leads; And e'er to far PACIFIC coast, IRON HORSE o'er plain and mountain speeds." All ghost embossed on the envelope referencing Fremont's exploration for the railroads. A copper plate engraving of John C. Fremont at 8 1/2 in.
