Rare. Inc. in 1865 in New York. Low number 18, issued for 25 shares to Richard C. Jackson on June 13th, 1865. Signed by the president (illegible) and the treasurer. Not cancelled. Black border and print. Two vignettes: allegorical woman with shield and eagle (top center) and dog next to safe (bottom center). Printed by E. Jones & Co., NY. 25 cent adhesive revenue stamp attached on the right. Pinholes, folds, some toning. 6.5 x 10" In 1866, the company was involved in a competition with AC Hobbs to see who would get a lock contract with the Treasury Department to use on distilleries and cisterns.
