According to old note taped to the bottom of the table, "This candle table belonged to Joseph Bonaparte of Bordentown, NJ, who gave it to one of his retinue,(I think by the name of Boulanger) whose daughter Anna Dudley, gave it, with some "cornstalk" chairs, in our possession, to Dr. Pulaski F. Hyatt, father of John J. Hyatt who was a physician living in Bordentown." Signed by Laura K. Hyatt. Joseph Bonaparte was the brother of Napoleon Bonaparte and the exiled King of Spain. After the Battle of Waterloo, Joseph hired a vessel and with a large entourage, fled to America, and settled in Bordentown, NJ. In 1832 he went to England and distributed his furniture to those of his entourage who remained in America. This table was given to M. Belanges, whose daughter Martha gave it in later years to her physician and neighbor, Dr. Pulaski Hyatt. Round top 18" wide, height 27.75".
