This beautiful sheath knife was made by J. Rodgers & Sons of Sheffield, England. It is 10 1/4 in. overall length, with a 5 3/4 in. blade. The blade appears to be a nickeled steel, and wears the company trademark star and Maltese cross on the right ricasso. The left side is marked: J. Rodgers & Sons, 6 Norfolk St., Sheffield, England. It has a clip-point blade that is still devilishly sharp, the guard is German Silver, and the scales are Sambar stag. Rodgers Cutlery was the official cutlery to the Royal Family. The United States would become Rodgers largest export market and it was a Rodgers' hunting knife, given to Buffalo Bill by General George Armstrong Custer, that Bill used in his duel with Sitting Bull. C. 1860's with original sheath. Very good condition.
