"Journeys of Observation," by T.A. Rickard (a mining engineer), c1907, signed by the author to then Lake Superior Mining Institute President J. Parke Channing, and dated 1908. 130 pp., attractive embossed cloth binding, many photos and illustrations, deckle-edge pages. Some corner wear, staining p. xvi through 4, 130-31. T.A. Rickard was elected a member of the Institution of Mining and Metallurgy in 1896, was a member of the council from 1903-1909, in 1932 was awarded the Gold Medal "in recognition of his services in the general advancement of mining engineering, with special reference to his contributions to technical and historical literature, " and in 1948 made Honorary Member "in recognition of his long and valued services to the mining and metallurgical profession and to the Institution." Rickard was a publisher and author on mine engineering subjects. He had written about Channing in a section, "J. Parke Channing, and Copper Mining" of his publication, "Mining and Scientific Press," Vol. 113, 1916, p. 487-494.
