Lot of 27 magazines. 15 Judge magazines (plus group of torn-off Judge covers), c. 1888 - 1905. Two Judge magazines dated 1931 and 1932. Nine The Wasp magazines (San Francisco) c. 1883 - 1888. Two Puck magazines (New York) dated 1994 and 1996. Puck was the first successful humor magazine in the United States. Each issue included colorful cartoons, caricatures and political satire of the issues of the day. The Wasp was founded in San Francisco as a weekly satire magazine and featured Ambrose Bierce as its editor from 1881 - 1885. Judge was a weekly satirical magazine launched by artists who had seceded from its rival Puck. Judge boomed during the '80s and '90s, surpassing its rival publication in content and circulation. By the early 1890s, the circulation of Judge reached 50,000.
