$500 First Mortgage Bond #190 signed by dynamite pioneer Egbert Judson in 1887. The company's offices were in Oakland, California in Alameda County. Judson patented "Giant Powder No. 2" which consisted of 40 parts nitroglycerine, 40 parts sodium nitrate, 6 parts of rosin, 6 parts of sulphur and 8 parts of kieselguhr in 1873. In the 1880's, Judson developed Judson Powder, a less quick powder to be used for bank blasting in railroad work. Judson Powder was also known as RRP, or railroad powder. Judson, one of the great dynamite pioneers, was also added to the board of the famous Giant Powder Company in 1867. The bond has a great, clear signature of Egbert Judson and is uncancelled. Information gleaned from " History ofThe Explosives Industry in America", by Van Gelder. The bond is in excellent condition. State: California City: Oakland Date: 1887
