Very rare engraved and silver inlaid Spanish 58 caliber percussion musket. Silver inlaid on the breech end of the barrel with a fancy design. Behind that is silver inlaid "JULIAN ARANA." On the left side of the barrel is "DE HERRADURAS" and on the right of the barrel is "ARMOROS 1857." The lock plate hammer, butt plate and trigger guard are all engraved, with a dog engraved on the trigger guard. Nice bore, original steel ramrod. Action works fine. This piece has a "shell patchbox" with a matching barrel wedge. The barrel is 30 inches. Overall, a very nice antique light weight musket, and a rare discovery. Not much is known about Julian Arana except he was a Spanish gun maker in the 1840s-60s period.
