In 1900, August Junge, a 20-year-old, borrowed $20,000 from his father to build a bakery. He expanded his business in 1915 by building a three-story bread plant at 18th & 19th and Main Streets. Two tins: 1) Junge Baking Company; 10 1/2 x 1 x 6 inches; hinged top; stamped inside: patented Stuber & Buck Co. 2) Junge Baking Company / Joplin, MO; 11 x 11 x 12 inches, hinged top, 8 x 4 inch window in front. iIn 1946, the Junge company expanded its operation again by building Joplin's largest industry at the time, a streamlined 100 x 640 foot factory building with a full basement. The million dollar cracker and cookie plant doubled the company's production and increased its distribution to a national scale. The plant, which employed over 400 people plus 55 salesmen, manufactured more than 260 varieties of cookies, crackers, and bread. Joplin Missouri
