37 original postcards and 9 duplicates of colorful Hopi Kachina Dolls. The spirit of Kachina dolls is part of the religious beliefs of the Pueblo people who are Native American cultures located in the southwestern part of the US. In the Pueblo culture, kachina rituals are practiced by the Hopi, Zuni, Hopi-Tewa and certain Keresan Tribes and most Pueblo Tribes in New Mexico. The kachina concept has three different aspects: supernatural, kachina dancers and kachina dolls, small dolls carved in the likeness of the kachina, that are given only to those who are, or will be responsible for the respectful care and well-being of the doll. There are 100's of different dolls with individual costumes and personalities. They are made from driftwood with vegetable dyes and based on legendary figures who protect them against bad luck, brings good crops, health and happiness to Hopi Indians.
