A veritable plethora of Kansas-related ephemera including an original printed copy of a March 1858 speech in the Senate by Senator Stephen A. "Little Giant" Douglas opposing the admission of Kansas under the pro-slavery Lecompton Constitution (he is also remembered for the famous 1858 Lincoln-Douglas Debates); an envelope from the Alpha Omega Chapter of Zeta Chi Fraternity at Baker University in Baldwin City addressed simply to "Bracken" containing secret instructions for Pledge Bracken to follow as his third and final decisive test to gain membership; a wide variety of business trade cards; a packet of apothecary labels for potions such as Lime Water, Syrup of Ipecac, extracts of vanilla and of lemon, POISON labels, etc.; a small 3.5x6.5-inch metal clipboard from Black, Swalls & Bryson Tanks in Bartlesville; 1905 seed catalogue for F. Barteldes & Co of Topeka; dozens of trade cards, billheads, receipts, etc.; a 1900 calendar from Lawrence Drug Co.; a window sign for City Ice Service in Phillipsburg that specified how much ice to deliver (25, 50, 75, or 100 lbs.); two V.C. Wallar shipping tags from Caney; a label for Jay Hawk Kraft Bags of Emporia; four bookmark-sized, folded pocket directories from the Kansas Theatre Directory from 1925-26; two 3.5x2-inch aluminum mini-clipboards, one from Shockey & Landes Furniture & Hardware in Abilene with paper, the other from The Enterprise Mercantile Co in Liberal, without paper; and a 1913 red-white-blue ribbon for the Winfield Association of Old Soldiers.
