Rare location: northwest Greenland! Obv.: Thule / Kap York; Rev.: 5 / 1910; Al, rd.,18 mm, 2 mm cut out. Explorer Knud Rasmussen established the Thule-Kap York trading station in 1910. He named it "Thule" from medieval literature, meaning a distant place located beyond the borders of the known world. Minted by Ludwig Christian Lauer, Nuremberg, Germany (1729-1924) in mintages of 5,000 for the 5 and 25 ore; and 2,000 for the 100 and 500 ore pieces, all dated 1910.
