Located in Nye County, Kawich is located 70 miles south of Tonopah and is now part of Nellis Air Force Base. Number 532 for 1000 shares to George H Lewis in 1905. Perforated on left. Printed by H.S. Crocker Co. S.F. One very small stain just above vignette of underground miners working to fill an ore cart and several vertical folds. Otherwise fine. Signed by vice president Wj Douglass. He was a Nevada Secretary fo State. "Reports of a great strike at Kawich near Goldfield Nev has been brought in by George H Lewis superintendent of the Kawich Gold Mining company. Mr Lewis states that ore assaying $3,700 per ton has been discovered some 3,000 feet from the original strike and on the trend from the Last Chance claim of the Kawich Mining company. A large boulder from the cropping was broken open and found to be thoroughly impremated with gold. A sample taken from a 30 foot ledge just a short distance from the rich discovery gave returns of $31 per ton. As a result of the discovery renewed excitement prevails. Mr Lewis spent two weeks in the district superintending operations on the Kawich company's holdings. The company is employing three shifts of men and making rapid progress in development work. The property is looking decidedly satisfactory." [Profits, March 11, 1905] (Bennett Collection) Date: 1905 Location: Kawich Gold Reed Mining District, Nevada HWAC# 60219
