Company has offices at 1170 Market Street, San Francisco and in Carson City., Nevada. Letterhead dated Aug. 2, 1899 in San Francisco and addressed to Geo. Richards in Carson City. Message from W.C. Watson, manager. Handwriting is difficult to read but may discuss changing physicians. Leslie Enraught Keeley was a medical doctor who may have been the first to address a medical “cure” for alcoholism and other drug addictions. He created the "Gold Cure" of which bottles exist today. The sanatorium in Carson City was opened in 1893 and backed by many prominent Carson City citizens. The cost of a “cure” in Carson City was $105 for three weeks, plus board. Additional weeks were $25. Bonanza King James G. Fair sent his son, JG Fair, Jr., to be treated but he died after undergoing the treatment. An autopsy revealed the Keeley treatment was not to blame. Fair sent another one of his sons there who was successfully cured of his alcoholism. For more background on Keeley, the mysterious chemistry of his Gold Cure, and the bottles, please see Volume Two of the Nevada Bottle Book.
