Incorp 1862 state of Kentucky. During the Civil War, the Kentucky Central was a frequent target of Confederate raiders, who burned the company’s bridges and destroyed its tracks. The railroad was an important link in the Federal supply chain from Cincinnati to the armies in the South. In 1862, Confederate raiders under John Hunt Morgan destroyed the Cynthiana depot and bridges along the line.
